In English: The Nguyen Art Gallery in Hanoi, the Vietnamese capital: baroque and vanguard artists that links Europe, with other issues such as daily or prostitution that are far from Western standards

'Silky Life 1', by Nguyen Van Ho.
Oil on canvas.

The Rococo artist, Fragonard, full of symbolism in his paintings, mimics Nguyen Van Ho in his 'Silky Life 1'. In this work, careless prostitute leaves left one of his shoes, which emphasizes the loss of virginity, and the beautiful star of 'The Swing', French said.

'Peace Area', by Nguyen Khac Chinh.
Oil on canvas.

With a perspective of 'Dali', forms a path the recumbent woman for man, who leaves behind a dense cluster of gray and factory fumes, which have the appearance of a female face adorned with an hourglass 'liquid' '. 'Peace Area', which is the name of this work of Nguyen Khac Chinh, receives powerful influences of Salvador Dalí, in the aforementioned perspective and colors (preponderance of cold and neutral, especially on stage, and warm pop to highlight the main reasons), and of course topics. The Khan Chinh is neosurrealism, so the woman can float in the sky, being a literal way for the man who seeks 'to reach God,' like 'The Divine Comedy' by Dante. The time represented by quite as famous as Dali, 'Persistence of Memory' paintings, is reflected in the hourglass that melts, like those watches...

'Mother Land', by Dang Huy Quyen.
Oil on canvas.

With a style of Picasso, Dang Huy Quyen draws the characters of 'Mother Land'. The woman's face is divided into two, so that not only your eyes out of position, but also makes it look like you have two noses and two mouths (or a nose and a mouth, Cubist deployed mode). It is reminiscent of a painting, and much, to portraits of women by Picasso. He sectioned, especially the faces, sometimes also separating colors, significantly marking the tonal difference between the shaded and lit, which reminds the Fauves. In 'Mother Land' is also true. The cow, a symbol of fertility, the temple in Vietnam hat and blurred woman with multiple rounded breasts (very Picasso) lactating rabbits are closer to Surrealism reasons, and try to exalt the nation and procreation, avoiding placing foreign elements. Background colors, yellow and red, evoke the Vietnamese flag. The title, 'Mother Land', corroborates the theory now exposed.

'In the name of lotus', by Nguyen The Hung.
Oil, acrylic and collage on canvas.

If it backtracks on the factors that influence this gallery, you can easily get to Mannerism. ''In the name of lotus', Nguyen The Hung, resembles the 'Garden of Delights' by Hieronymus Bosch. It has a lotus flower as the main reason, which towers above the garden, like the surreal architecture of the work of the Dutch. The 'spots' soil, from a distance, seem to simulate gaps, as in the triptych by Hieronymus Bosch. Remember the panel, especially the left, because of its dark lower pond grotesque creatures emerge... In the Vietnamese picture, these black areas that appear are letters, eyes, fire and many other things, are treated as collage pieces glued on the canvas. But the chaotic and ill-defined content of these pieces recalls the confused work of 'The Garden of Earthly Delights', which can instill some fear or concern today.

Thus, the naive figuration makes Henri Rousseau, added to taste the lush and alien nature are comparable works of Ngo Tuan Anh as 'Under the tree'. The portrait of Michael Jackson created by Mai Huy Dung, because pay tribute to a 'famous', may remind the usual themes of Andy Warhol, along with the amount of contrasting colors. A love of animals, especially for horses with special meaning to Franz Marc, and its particular representation thereof, schematic and even children, appears in 'War horses' by Nguyen Tran Cuong. And even still life, so common in the Baroque, breaks into the 'Sweet Home' by Le Duc Tung to give result to a certain dynamism although static, representing the inclined baskets and live pigeons composition. It also is a touch more 'vague', which commemorates Diego Velázquez.

With the tremendous Western influence, but also marked vietnamese originality, reflected for example in 'Lotus in the storm' by Do Cong Son, who teaches the varied work of Nguyen Art Gallery, located in the capital of the Asian country. The video, shown below, makes a quick tour of a large part of the artists who exhibited there, showing his to try to raise awareness of the richness of contemporary art gallery lies here works. Search only in Spanish.
